Can a commercial EPID dosimetry system detect radiotherapy treatment errors?

Electronic portal imaging dosimetry offers one of the best methods to capture radiotherapy treatment errors on a day-to-day basis, because it is non-interventional, readily available and delivers no extra dose to the patient. But how sensitive is it to the variety of errors that can arise?
In this webinar, originally presented in partnership with Physics World, Dr. Doolan details the methods used to test the sensitivity of PerFRACTION (part of the SunCHECK Platform from Sun Nuclear Corporation) to radiotherapy errors originating from three possible sources: (i) changes in the radiation beam or EPID position; (ii) changes in the patient position; and (iii) changes in the patient anatomy. Tests are made on anthropomorphic phantoms, for both 3DCRT and VMAT beams.
